Several translators complaint about the low payments in audiovisual translations on Twitter.
One of the most important Turkish dubbing studios seem to pay 3-4 TRY (less than $0.5) per minute translated as it’s shown in the following caption shared on Twitter:
AVTE (The Federation of European audiovisual translators) joins the complaint with the following statements:
“”Please work for free – oh and can you QC yourself on top of it? Thx!” Translators, join your local organisation, inquire about what a fair rate is, exchange with your peers. Refuse collectively to be treated as monkeys. We’re all in it together.”
The translation war doesn’t seem to be close to an end.
